Prime Minister of Dominica praises achievements of Petrocaribe

Caracas.- In the framework of the Third Petrocaribe Summit, the Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit praised the progresses achieved by the signatory countries of the Agreement, on the search of the energy security of the region.

Skerrit praised the efforts made by President Chávez, by means of energy, on the realization of the dream of Simón Bolívar. Bolívar dreamt of integrating America and the Caribbean into one region.

Skerrit also said that these meetings are important for the supervision of the achieved progresses by the Petrocaribe initiative. This initiative, according to Skerrit, will be strengthened and will follow the integration path among Caribbean and Latin-American peoples.

On the other hand, Skerrit stated that the storage plant is completed by 75% so far. This plant is being built in Dominica by the joint venture PDV Caribe Dominica Limited. It is expected that by the end of this year this plant will be in full operation, in order to start receiving the supplies from Venezuela for the domestic consumption.

He also referred to the construction project of a refinery in Dominica, as a strategic point of fuel storage and distribution for the Caribbean. Skerrit announced that in the next few weeks the tender shall be awarded in order to commence the technical feasibility and environmental impact studies.

This potential refinery would produce liquefied petroleum gas, jet fuel and diesel oil, among others.
