Caracas.- “The Caribbean and South America shall not suffer in the future from any energy crisis. We have to build a new path and geopolitical space. That is Petrocaribe, an answer to the diagnosis of the region needs,” said the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, during the opening of the Third Petrocaribe Summit of Heads of States and/or Government. This Summit is being held in the Simón Bolívar Hall in the La Campińa-headquarters of the People’s Ministry of Energy and Petroleum and PDVSA.
President Chávez assured that for two years efforts were made to defeat the obstacles impeding in each country and at a regional level the total development of the Petrocaribe strategy. This strategy consists of “freeing us from the chains that held us for so many years,” breaking the asymmetries and using the potentials of each country along the development of complementing fraternal economies, on the solid base of our resources.
Petrocaribe has an energy diagnosis of our region with a long-term envision, year 2030 and more, and a strategic planning. This planning is a weapon of construction and leads the way to abandoning anarchy, which means abandoning neoliberalism, that is to say, the market dictating the survival rules, said Chávez.
For the Venezuelan Head of State it is essential to deepen the studies, to share and to give data in order to create a new clear, deep and solid energy matrix. This matrix shall unite us in order to guide Petrocaribe and turn it from a 2-year-old child (actual age) into a strong and robust body, with muscles capable of moving the progress of our nations.
President Chávez assured that “if we work together and we complement one another, we will continue strengthening us; as the Liberator Simón Bolívar said: “The knowledge and industry, which makes the men honest and happy.”
