Daniel Ortega: Petrocaribe is a central piece of ALBA

Caracas.- For the President of the Republic of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, Petrocaribe is “a central piece for the realization of the projects contemplated in the Bolivarian Alternative for the People of our America (ALBA), for it represents the development in our region of a new proposal to face free market economy”.

“We are very much inspired by this new age Latin America and the Caribbean are living in, by this new stage of their history .  In spite of the efforts the Empire has made to keep (Latin American nations) in subordination and slavery, we have been advancing with an ever great steadfastness, energy, dignity and sense of unity.  There is talk all around the globe about integration in Latin America”, Ortega added.

The Nicaraguan President stressed the urgency to strengthen Latin American unity, because the imperialism works united to divide the people of South America and the Caribbean.  In his words, “our call is one for unity in order to defend our interests. The enemy of the people, the North that represents global capitalism developed in Europe and the USA, has its interests well defined and is united.  They have always aimed at our division. Unlike us, they work towards unity and cohesion, leaving aside their historical differences and coming together to work systematically in order to oppress us, divide us and keep us far from one another.  Even though they reside in different regions of the globe, they plot together their strategies for global domination ».

On a different subject, the President repeated that sugar cane ethanol must be managed according to the conditions of each country.

Finally, President Ortega expressed his gratitude to our country on behalf of the Nicaraguan people for the solidarity we offered by helping to the economic pick up of the Central American nation. “Without Venezuela’s cooperation the Nicaraguan economy would be in chaos right now. It would have collapsed”, he said.
