Cuba.- The IV Petrocaribe Summit began this Friday morning with the speech given by the first Cuban Vice President, Raul Castro Ruz. The summit will be held in the city of Cienfuegos.
The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez Frias, is leading the meeting along with Vice President Raul Castro Ruz. Over one dozen Heads of State and Government will attend this summit. These are the leaders of nations who belong to this strategic energy security scheme created in June 29, 2005.
There will be delegations from the 15 countries members of this cooperation mechanism, along with representatives from Honduras and Guatemala, who will attend as guests. These delegations will discuss the exploration of new work fields to promote the region’s social and economic development.
The IV Petrocaribe Summit will be rounded off by the opening of the Camilo Cienfuegos refinery. This refinery is reactivating its plants thanks to the creation of a Cuban-Venezuelan joint venture company at the height of the Bolivarian Alternative for the peoples of our America.
