RESOLUTIONS N° 04.02-05
 
PREAMBLE

1. RECOGNIZING the creation of PETROCARIBE as an initiative of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in the aim of contributing to the economic and social development of the peoples through the sovereign use of energy resources for the integration of countries in the Caribbean;

2. HIGHLIGHTING the PETROCARIBE Energy Cooperation Agreement, signed in the 1st Summit of Heads of State and of Government, held in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela, on June 29, 2005;

3. TAKING INTO ACCOUNT the Energy Security Treaty (TSE) of PETROCARIBE, which stands for a broad-based, sustainable process of integration contributing to energy security in the Caribbean region and was signed on August 11, 2007;

The Heads of State and/or Government of the Members Countries of PETROCARIBE hereby state:

1. The joining of the Republican de Guatemala as a Member Country of the PETROCARIBE, for it has met all the requirements set forth and expressed its interest to be part of such Initiative, thus recognizing and accepting its by-laws and resolutions.
